Serious Sam 4 launches on PS5 and Xbox Game Pass

Chaos scaled to unprecedented levels.

Xbox Game Pass reveals another new surprise launch alongside other surprise arrivals Generation Zero and Townscaper. First-person shooter game Serious Sam 4 of the Serious Sam franchise has now been ported over to Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5.

What is Serious Sam 4?

Developed by Croteam and published by Devolver Digital, Serious Sam 4 follows protagonist Sam “Serious” Stone. He leads a resistance to an alien invasion with the Earth Defense Force. The high-powered prequel to Serious Sam 3: BFE returns with hordes of invaders, explosive arsenal, cooperative mayhem, and a legion system. It seems to be full of giant lasers, blood, gore, and endless mayhem in the launch trailer. And, of course, there are lots of creepy monsters to take down.

Now ported over, the game released on Xbox Series X/S and PS5. The original version on PC remains playable. However, the game cannot currently be played on PS4 or Xbox One. It has yet to be mentioned whether the game will be ported over to Xbox One; however, the PlayStation store has the game tagged under PS4. Meaning, it’s entirely possible the PS4 will get a port in the future.

How much does the game cost?

Serious Sam 4 currently sells on PS5 and PC for $39.99. The launch bundle on PS5 comes with all of the other three Serious Sam games and additional expansion packs. With all content from Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter, Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter, Serious Sam 3: BFE, and expansions The Legend of the Beast and Jewel of the Nile, it seems like a pretty good package. Interestingly enough, the game doesn’t seem to be available for purchase for Xbox. If you prefer Xbox but you don’t want to get the Game Pass, it seems you’ll have to pass up on the game.
