Night Slashers remake announced by Forever Entertainment

Forever Entertainment's back at it with another announced remake.

Forever Entertainment announced a deal with G-Mode on Sept. 13 to develop a remake of Night Slashers.

As of now, the details for this project are not specified. However, the announcement states Forever Entertainment will produce and release Night Slashers for all major platforms. The release date is unknown, but the developers intend to announce it in a separate update.

The planned remake of Night Slashers is part of Forever Entertainment’s ongoing plan to produce a library of classic game remakes. Previously, the company produced a successful remake of SEGA’s Panzer Dragoon. The company also has a remake of the second Panzer Dragoon planned to release sometime this year. In addition, remakes of the first two House of the Dead games are in the works.

If you add the deal between Forever Entertainment and Square Enix, you have a company building an empire on remaking classic titles. Needless to say, they have no intention of slowing down on the remakes any time soon. However, with only the first Panzer Dragoon remake released so far, it’s unclear how the rest, including Night Slashers, will fare.

About Night Slashers

Night Slashers is an arcade beat ’em up produced by Data East. The game released in 1993 and allowed up to three players to fight hordes of monsters in an attempt to stop the evil King Zarutz. There are three main playable characters in the game, and each has their own unique moves and elemental powers.

People often compare Night Slashers to other beat ’em up titles like Final Fight and Streets Of Rage. While the game does follow the classic formula of fighting a series of enemies before moving to a boss fight that clears the stage, other features make it stand apart. For instance, the characters have larger and more diverse move-sets than other beat ’em ups. Most notably, the game’s classic horror aesthetic gives it a unique flavor and establishes its identity within the genre.

As of now, no details are available on what fans can expect from the remake. However, as more information about Night Slashers and Forever Entertainment’s other planned remakes is revealed, Mega Visions will be sure to provide updates. To see a playthrough of the original game, watch below.
