Yakuza creator features in Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania theme song
Toshihiro Nagoshi surprises fans with his inclusion in the theme song for Banana Mania.
SEGA revealed the theme song for Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania during their presentation at the Tokyo Game Show 2021.
The Banana Fritters sing the new song, titled “Hello Banana!!” The three members of the group consist of voice actors from Super Monkey Ball. One member is Koichi Yamadera, who voices Dr. Bad-Boon. Another member is the voice of Jet, Toshihiko Seki. The final member is Noriko Hidaka. She is the voice of AiAi, MeeMee, Baby and YanYan. During the presentation, the three also discuss their approach to voicing these iconic characters.
In addition, the theme song features guest vocals from other prominent members of SEGA. Two standout appearances include Banana Mania producer Masao Shirosaki and Yakuza series creator Toshihiro Nagoshi.
Amid the rumors of Nagoshi leaving SEGA to join NetEase, his involvement in the song may come as a surprise. However, his inclusion in the guest ensemble was certainly welcome. In addition to creating Yakuza, Nagoshi is also responsible for the Super Monkey Ball franchise.
The guest ensemble for the Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania theme song also features a variety of members from the game’s development team. When the Banana Fritters return to continue the chorus, they are decked out in full banana costumes.
