Xenocider Dreamcast game demo now available on Steam

Blast through corrupted worlds in this HD remaster of a cult classic!

Arcade-inspired Xenocider announced for an HD remaster in 2021, developed by Retro Sumus and published by Eastasiasoft. While we still have to wait for the full version of the Dreamcast shooter, a demo already released for PC.

What is Xenocider?

The player takes the role of Xara, a cyborg from a remote planet who becomes the ultimate weapon of destruction. On a mission to fight through corrupted words, reduce civilizations to ash with your combat prowess. With its third-person shooter 32-bit style inspired by the retro games we know and love, Xenocider remastered into beautiful HD quality.

With its HD update, moving the game to modern consoles offers nice visuals and smoother gameplay. Its low-poly graphics now combine with new lighting effects and high-quality textures. While you can still purchase the original edition, it may be worth it to wait for the remaster. The games new look and features are testable in the demo currently available on Steam.

Xenocider features (listed on Steam):

  • Enjoy 3D rail shooter action that’s easy to play, difficult to master.
  • Blast enemies from a third-person perspective following Xara on her hover-board!
  • Customize controls and “Xenopod” weapon loadouts to suit your play style!
  • Immerse yourself in HD remastered graphics at 60 fps.
  • Explore 7 worlds with alternate routes and secrets.
  • Upgrade skills as you progress.
  • Rock out to a soundtrack by Juanjo Martin!
  • Unlock new game modes and earn in-game rewards.

When does the full version release?

Xenocider plans to release sometime in 2022 on PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. No specific date has been given yet for the full remaster. However, the original digital edition and digital deluxe edition can be purchased on the Retro Sumus website. In the meantime, the demo of the Dreamcast shooter remaster is completely free and available to play right now on Steam.
