Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown is coming next week, PS4 exclusive

Virtua Fighter fans are finally getting a (sorta) new game. After months of speculation on what this new title would be, now we have our answer. Today, SEGA officially revealed Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown. In the announcement, they explained the fighter would be a PlayStation 4 exclusive.

This new version features completely overhauled graphics, using the Dragon Engine from the Yakuza series. Developed by both SEGA AM2 and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios, they made sure to go all out in this remake. Every single stage will include new BGM, as well as a brand spankin’ new user interface. The opening cinematic was completely redone, and the online mode got a facelift too.

Ultimate Showdown’s online features include:

  • Spectator Mode
  • Tournaments
  • Lobby System
  • Private and public lobby system will support up to 16 players
  • New communications tools like stamps

The last title to grace western shores was an updated version of Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown in 2012. It’s been almost 10 years since we’ve seen a new game!

Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown punches and kicks its way to PlayStation 4 on June 1st. There’s an awesome trailer that SEGA released today too, which you can check out above.
