Valkyrie Elysium soars out on September 29 for consoles

The PC version launches later in November. The deluxe version for consoles also contains a port of Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth.

The latest RPG in the Valkyrie Profile series is on its way, and it’s coming sooner than you might think. Valkyrie Elysium, announced earlier this year, is slated to release in the fall for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam.

Square Enix announced the release dates today in addition to some information about the Digital Deluxe Editions. The PlayStation versions are set to launch on Sept. 29; Steam players will have to wait a little later, though, as the PC release drops on Nov. 11. Digital Deluxe pre-order bonuses include early access and a free copy of Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth.

Valkyrie Elysium is the fifth game in the series and the third developed for home consoles. Developed by Star Ocean creators tri-Ace, Valkyrie Profile centers around the valkyries of Norse myth who are servants of Odin. This latest entry centers around an as-yet unnamed valkyrie who may or may not be series protagonist Lenneth (we’re not quite sure yet).

What we know about Valkyrie Elysium so far

Square Enix hopes that Valkyrie Elysium will be a new experience for old and new fans. “The series began with Valkyrie Profile, released in the year 2000 in the West,” Square Enix said. “[It] tells the story of the Valkyrie Lenneth and her various companions who embark on a mission to prevent the destruction of Asgard.”

“The series is also renowned for its music, composed by series regular Motoi Sakuraba. Releasing in 2022, Valkyrie Elysium is the latest instalment in the series and will deliver a fresh and exciting gameplay experience to existing fans and newcomers alike.”
