Ubisoft exec defends NFTs: players ‘don’t get it’

"We so strongly believe that what we are doing [with Quartz and Digits] goes in the right direction."

The conversation surrounding NFTs just won’t stop coming. Square Enix has already done it, Gamestop’s extensive plans are already influencing them, and Ubisoft… well, Ubisoft’s NFTs already aren’t going over well because no one wants them. But that’s beside the point—you silly gamers don’t understand how beneficial NFTs can be, Ubisoft executive Nicolas Pouard claims in an exclusive interview.

You just don’t understand this Ubisoft exec’s plan

Nicolas Pouard, Ubisoft VP, has all your concerns regarding NFTs covered. They’re so covered, in fact, that this Ubisoft executive ensures they know everything there is to know. In an interview with Finder, Pouard answers a few questions you might have about Ubisoft’s plans for NFTs. Honestly, nothing does this interview justice like Pouard’s own words. So have a look at what Pouard has to say about why NFTs are so great.

“We know it’s not an easy concept to grasp. But Quartz is really just a first step that should lead to something bigger. Something that will be more easily understood by our players. That’s the way we think about it and why we will keep experimenting.”

Right from the start, Pouard assures its player base that they simply don’t understand NFTs. Instead of assuaging player concerns with their plans moving forward, Pouard believes you simply need to wait until Quartz leads to something bigger. Besides, Ubisoft expected this to happen anyway. The Ubisoft exec believes that the push against NFTs “shows how engaged our players are and how passionate they are about their hobby and gaming in general.”

Are you feeling better about the Ubisoft NFt push yet? No? That’s alright, because Pouard doesn’t expect you to. Gamers just “don’t get” what NFts have to offer. It was for the players all along, not a big money scheme to get Ubisoft as much cash as possible.

“So, it’s really, for them. It’s really beneficial. But they don’t get it for now.”

The push for Ubisoft NFTs

Not only does Ubisoft not believe its player base seems smart enough to grasp the concept of NFTs, they have no plans to stop pushing them as hard as they have. The commitment they have to pushing their Ubisoft Quartz agenda is, quite frankly, astounding. Ubisoft executive Pouard seems to have full faith in what they’re doing is right. Plus, it’ll rank in the cash for sure. Feel free to read the whole interview on Finder, but I warn you: you might lose a few brain cells trying to comprehend Pouard’s master plan.
