ToeJam and Earl 30th Anniversary merch collection on pre-order

Fans of ToeJam and Earl (or TJ n’ E to the cool kids, which, I can sadly report from experience, does not make for nearly as nice a sandwich as PB n’ J) have been eating pretty well in recent months. From re-releases of their classic adventures, to entire arcade machines being built in their honour, and even it emerging that, originally, they were set to battle a member of the Ku Klux Klan – yes, really – they’ve been enjoying a bit of a resurgence. And so they should, as they’re an iconic retro SEGA property who, in their snap caps and baggy neon pants, simply exude that inextricable 90s flavour. Radical vibes, bromigo.

What’s in the collection?

All this is just in time for their 30th anniversary, which the ever-present peddlers of retro merch over at Limited Run Games are set to celebrate even further with a range of swag. Visitors to their site can now pre-order a whole host of ToeJam and Earl goodies. It includes a hat bearing their logo ($34.99), a commemorative t-shirt ($24.99) and, naturally, a frickin’ skateboard ($74.99). Combine all of them together when outside for the optimum neighbour-embarrassing experience.

Oh, you thought I was pulling your leg? Consider it unpulled.

Those prices may seem steep, and to be frank, they are, but as with most of Limited Run’s offerings, you’re paying for the fact that there aren’t a whole lot of them in existence, and they’ll only be in production for… well, a limited run. Ah, suddenly the name makes sense.

A standout product for me is the deluxe clamshell OST; For just shy of 30 bucks nets you a Genesis cartridge-themed display case and all the bangin’ tunes your poor console’s battered sound chip could muster back in the day. Methinks they’ll sound way better coming out of your modern-day earbuds than a tinny tube-TV speaker – though perhaps not quite as authentic.

It’s like the art designer vomited Skittles onto the page and called it a day.

Toejam and Earl pre-order date

Fans looking to partake of any of these selections ought to put their skates on; Pre-orders are only live until end-of-day on the 20th of February. Who knows how long they’ll last?

Do any of these products tickle your fancy? Anything that makes you want to get, ahem, back in the groove? Let us know!
