The Noid joins Crash Bandicoot: On the Run to ruin everyone’s pizza

Popular Domino's mascot returns from hibernation

Activision is joining forces with Domino’s Pizza for a crossover the likes of which has never been seen. The Noid will be a featured character Activision’s upcoming mobile auto runner Crash Bandicoot: On the Run.

Oh, who is The Noid, you ask?

Oookay, now kids pull up a seat as it’s story time.

The history of “The Noid” in video games

The Noid started life as a “clay-mation” mascot for Domino’s Pizza in the late ’80s. Its best described as a human with rabbit-like features (long ears and rabbit teeth?) who wore a red onesie and tried to ruin people’s pizzas.

To be absolutely frank, The Noid was kind of an asshole, but was awesome at the same time. It went on to star in the 1989 game Avoid the Noid for MSDos and Commodore 64. In the game, you played a Domino’s pizza delivery driver sent to make a delivery to the top of a building. The Noid happened to multiply into hundreds of copies to stop you with exploding telephones and rockets.

After that was a re-skin of the Famicom game Kamen no Ninja Hanamaru was released by Capcom in the West as Yo Noid! for the Nintendo Entertainment System.

“With the Noid making its big return this year and the Crash Bandicoot franchise celebrating its 25th anniversary, it was the perfect opportunity to have players take on the Domino’s antihero alongside other nostalgic Crash bosses in this brand-new mobile adventure,” said Richard Hocking, head of marketing at King, the game’s developer.

The Noid will appear in Crash On the Run as a mini-boss on May 7. What kind of crossovers would you like to see? Sound off in the comments!!
