The House of the Dead Remake crawls onto the Switch on April 7

The remake of the acclaimed arcade horror game launches exclusively for Nintendo Switch next month.

It’s almost time to head back into the Curien Mansion and slaughter some zombies. The House of the Dead Remake, announced last year, is finally rising from its grave. It will launch on Nintendo Switch on April 7.

The remake is developed by MegaPixel Studio by published by Forever Entertainment under license from SEGA. Pre-orders go live starting on March 31.

All about The House of the Dead Remake

The House of the Dead Remake recreates the original arcade classic with new graphics, a better framerate, and redone (but still deliberately cheesy) voice acting. MegaPixel redesigned the UI for modern systems, alongside HD rumble for the Joy-Cons and the option to change the blood color.

A couple of other additions make this the definitive modern House of the Dead experience. The remake includes a Classic Mode which emulates the original game but with the updated graphics, and a fast-paced Horde Mode that puts you up against a barrage of enemies

The game is coming to us courtesy of MegaPixel Studio and Forever Entertainment. This is the same team of developer and publisher that brought us the Panzer Dragoon remake in 2020. They also promised to launch a remake of Panzer Dragoon II Zwei in 2021, but it looks like that’s been delayed.

For now, this remake of House of the Dead is exclusive to the Switch. PC, PlayStation, and Xbox players are currently out of luck, but perhaps if the Switch version does well enough, ports to those systems might be on the horizon.
