Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge returns original cast

Cowabunga, dudes! The original Turtles are back

IGN reported yesterday on Twitter that the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge will bring back the original cast.

The post states that the voice actors from the 1987 animated series will return for the new game. As the game is an overall love-letter to retro TMNT, the addition of the four iconic voices of the Ninja Turtles is the pepperoni on the pizza. For those unfamiliar with the classic cartoon, the cast includes:

  • Townsend Coleman as Michelangelo
  • Barry Gordon as Donatello
  • Cam Clarke as Leonardo
  • Rob Paulson as Raphael

In addition, a new video showcases 11 minutes of never-before-seen gameplay from the first two stages. Throughout the video, you can also hear the voice acting in action, as the turtles let off several different one-liners. You can also check out the radical gameplay video for yourself below!

In publisher Dotemu’s presentation of the first two levels, we can witness the gorgeous, retro-inspired beat ’em up action. Additionally, the settings for each level, Channel 6 Studios and Streets of New York, respectively both look fantastic in their nostalgic glory. Everything from the vibrant pixelated graphics, in addition to the fantastic retro music screams old-school TMNT.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge launches this summer!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is an arcade-style beat ’em up, heavily inspired by the classic TMNT games for the NES. The spiritual successor to the classic side-scrolling Turtles games of the ’90s naturally stars the four famed heroes as the fight to stop the evil Shredder from his latest world domination scheme.

Aside from the turtles, publisher Dotemu also confirms both April O’Neil and Master Splinter will also be playable characters. It’s clear this game truly comes from the heart from people who deeply care about TMNT. In fact, the developers even posted a video where members of the team gush in Turtles nostalgia.

In addition to all the other great news, the vague release window got significantly slimmer. We now know that TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge will launch sometime in the summer. However, the exact date remains unconfirmed.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is developed by Tribute Games and published by Dotemu. It launches this summer for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. You can also learn more about the game by reading everything we know so far!
