April O ‘Neil revealed as playable character in TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge

Grab your pizza, nunchucks and camera, folks! We have breaking news from Gamescom 2021 Opening Night Live Stream. Amidst all the reveals happening, a throwback to the old goodies landed like a hot pie in New York.

Publisher Dotemu, known for turning out retro gems for new generations  and the brainchild behind Mega Slug Tactics and Streets of Rage 4, has teamed up with developer Tribune Games and Nickelodeon to bring yet another classically inspired game. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge brings classic side-scrolling to the dirty streets as they take on infamous Foot Clan.

Fans of the 80’s franchise will be delighted to know intrepid reporter, April O’Neil is a playable character in TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge. Dressed in her iconic yellow jumpsuit, she uses the instruments of her trade as weapons to pound out the truth. Just released gameplay video shows her taking on Clan minions and kicking butt alongside those turtles in a half shell

Beautifully colored, with music by Tee Lopes, TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge looks like a brilliant editoon to any retro gamer’s collection. As announced at Nintendo Indie World Showcase in April (we should have seen this coming), TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge will drop for PC, Nintendo Switch and consoles in 2022. You can wishlist the game through Steam right now.

A bit nerdy, a bit punk rock princess, and a whole lot of mom, I'm constantly in motion. I have an enthusiasm for gaming and the cultural complexities of entertainment, both past and present. I don’t believe in limiting myself to one kind of genre in books, comics, manga, anime, music or movies. I prefer to seek out hidden gems in panned pieces, uniqueness in the mundane and new outlooks on nuances.
