Resident Evil 2, 3 and 7 on PS5 may launch very soon

The PlayStation Network listings suggest we'll see these remasters very soon.

Thanks to PlayStation patch tracker @PlayStationSize, a recent discovery suggests that three Resident Evil games may hit PS5 very soon.

The patch tracker found PS5 versions of Resident Evil 2, 3 and 7 on the PlayStation Network. Although we knew they were coming eventually, Capcom didn’t originally specify when. With this finding, it seems highly likely the PS5 versions of these three games are close on the horizon.

Resident Evil 3 (PS5)

With the discovery of the PS5 versions on PlayStation Network, speculation suggests the games could come during this week’s Summer Game Fest showcase. Other rumors, however, point to their launch during Capcom’s digital event next week. Either way, it definitely looks like players can expect to revisit these horrors sooner rather than later.

What we know about the next-gen Resident Evil updates

Capcom first revealed in March that Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and the remakes of RE 2 and 3 will receive next-gen upgrades for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Those who already own the games on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One can also receive the upgrade digitally to their respective next-gen console at no cost. In addition, PC gamers will also get a free upgrade that includes the same enhancements.

As for what these enhancements are, they include a number of visual and audio improvements to make the games look and sound better. Each of the titles will feature a higher framerate, ray tracing and 3D audio. PlayStation 5 users will also be able to take advantage of the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.

An itchy taste of things to come

Resident Evil 4 Remake
Leon’s story continues next March in Resident Evil 4 Remake

In other Resident Evil news, Capcom also finally announced their development of Resident Evil 4 Remake last week. Because the next installment in the Resident Evil Remake series will be exclusive to next-gen hardware, the remasters of RE 2, 3 and 7 should give fans an idea of how RE 4 will look and sound.

Are you excited to see how Capcom utilizes the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S for Resident Evil? And do you plan to pick up any of the three next-gen remasters? As always, share your thoughts with us in the comments!
