Psychonauts 2 soundtrack gets digital and streaming release

Are you a fan of funky music or the recently released Psychonauts 2? Good news then! Microsoft and Double Fine have announced they will partner with Skill Tree Records to release Psychonauts 2 Original Soundtrack – Volume 1! The album will be released digitally and on streaming services on October 19th. You can order or listen to it now! Yes! Now! (Well, at this link if you wish to buy it). Check out the announcement video below!

The album for the game comes from the collaborative efforts of longtime composer Peter McConnel and designer Tim Schafer. McConnel also explained why the album is just part one. It turns out the score will hit shelves and digital storefronts in three parts! McConnel says:

“Comprising more than three hours of music created over four years, the score to Psychonauts 2 is a journey through musical styles and statements as diverse as the human mind. So we decided to separate the soundtrack into three releases. Volume 1 focuses on the orchestral and jazz elements of the score that are integral to the story and gameplay.”

Psychonauts 2 was released earlier this year on consoles (and is available now on Game Pass) after years of anticipation from fans and the public. Reception for the game has been very positive, with the soundtrack receiving praise as one of the high points of the game. It’s a masterful soundtrack that adds to the zany wonder and vibe that the game achieves at almost every level.
