Persona 5 gets its own slot machine courtesy of SEGA

You’ll never see it coming. You’ll see that poverty is too fast for eyes. You’re done in by the time it hits you: your last surprise cent of your savings being vacuumed out of your pocket by hypnotic lights and sounds. Yep, we’re talking Persona today, folks – specifically Persona 5. As one of SEGA and Atlus’ golden franchises (and certainly one which they don’t seem willing to let rest) it’s only fitting that it should receive the full brunt of shameless merchandising opportunities that we’ve come to lovingly associate with those companies. As a result, per a report from Twinfinite, the acclaimed JRPG is getting a casino slot machine themed around it, designed to pry as many coins from your person as possible in a technologically fancy manner.

Persona-l finance

“The fancy gambling machine, titled ‘Persona 5 for Reels’, was revealed with a trailer that boasted 15 million Persona games sold,” states the report. That name might genuinely be in the running for top 10 worst puns I’ve ever heard. These days, of course, slot machines aren’t just a few rotating bits of plastic with fruit pictures on; they’ve got screens, holograms and even VR elements at times, and the Persona one ain’t gonna be any different. Aside from getting to see “our familiar heroes performing in flashy animations,” including everyone’s least favourite Smash Ultimate inclusion, Joker, the machine is “completely digital, with the slot part projected over a large vertical screen.” Better keep a few pennies safe, in case they rise up and become the dominant race in a decade or so.

Check out the… trailer for the slot machine (???) below:

I mean, I can’t judge. I freaked out when they gave Ace Attorney a pachinko machine.

If you fancy catching up on all things Persona 5, it’s available on quite a few systems – and I can more-or-less guarantee that experience, unlike this machine, will be a one-off fee. Inevitable microtransaction implementation notwithstanding.

What’s your take on this? Are you a Persona fan? Let us know!
