New game releases: May 30-June 5

Diablo Immortal, Souliders and more!

Today is Monday, which means a new week of video game releases. From a free-to-play entry in Blizzard’s Diablo series to a slew of exciting new indie titles, gamers have a lot to look forward to.

However, before we look at the new games releasing this week, today is also Memorial Day. Therefore, I would like to take a moment to remember all the service members who gave their lives protecting the United States. I encourage you all to also honor our fallen service members and reflect on their sacrifices.

Now, let’s take a look at all the new video game releases coming out this week!

SnowRunner (May 31)

SnowRunner

SnowRunner is a simulation game that puts you in the driver’s seat of powerful vehicles as you drive through extreme terrain in open environments. Developed by Saber Interactive and published by Focus Home Interactive, you can drive 40 unique vehicles from popular brands like Ford, Chevrolet and Freightliner. Throughout the game, you’ll explore immense open worlds in wild untamed lands.

As you progress in SnowRunner, you can also expand and customize your fleet with cool new upgrades and accessories. The game first launched in 2020 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, then last year for Nintendo Switch. Beginning tomorrow, you can begin your journey in the most realistic rough terrain driving simulator on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Silt (June 1)

Then, on Wednesday, you can get your hands on the beautiful 2D adventure game Silt. Developed by Spiral Circus Games and published by Fireshine Games, this black-and-white side-scrolling indie game features a breathtaking art-style similar to Limbo. As you explore the deep underwater world, you’ll also uncover tons of mysteries through engaging puzzle solving.

As the game progresses, you’ll experience an ocean inhabited by dangerous creatures and populated with strange machinery and ancient ruins. In addition, you have the ability to possess various sea creatures to help you solve puzzles using their unique abilities. Silt comes to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC on June 1.

If you love high-stake card games and have a passion for 18th century Europe, then Card Shark is the game for you! Developed by Nerial and published by Devolver Digital, the makers of Reigns bring us yet again an in-depth cards simulator. Set in 18th century France, your goal is to win hand after hand in card games with ever-increasing stakes.

Throughout the game, you can find various ways to cheat your way to victory. However, don’t get caught, as you’ll likely be shot dead on the spot. Card Shark arrives to Nintendo Switch and PC on June 2.

Diablo Immortal (June 2)

Also coming this Thursday is Blizzard Entertainment’s next installment in the celebrated Diablo franchise. The new game, Diablo Immortal, marks the first time the hack and slash dungeon crawler was developed from the ground up for mobile devices. In addition, Diablo Immortal will be free to play.

Another first for the series is that Immortal will also be the first MMO in the series. It will feature crossplay and cross-progression among platforms as well. Diablo Immortal launches on June 2 for Android and iOS devices, as well as PC.

In the game, you play as a ferocious “Giga” from the Prehistoric era as you bring terror and destruction to civilation.

Inspired by the classic game Rampage and Kaiju movies like Godzilla, Gigapocalypse offers addictive destructive gameplay that lets you smash everything in sight. You can choose between various Gigas with unique skills, mutations and manifold skins you unlock through progression. Gigapocalypse comes to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch on June 2.

Each of the three classes features their own unique abilities that you can upgrade as you progress. Developed by Retro Forge Games and published by Dear Villagers, Souldiers combines retro RPG exploration and progression with Souls-like combat.

The 16-bit action RPG features difficult enemies and bosses in a large interconnected world.
