Mortal Kombat 1 will require 100 GB of storage

Talk about a fatality on your hard drive

Last week, developer NetherRealm Studios and publisher Warner Bros. took the world by storm with the Mortal Kombat 1 trailer.

Now a look at the upcoming game’s Steam page has fans shocked for a different reason. While skimming through the minimum system requirements, you’ll discover that Mortal Kombat 1 will require a whopping 100 GB of storage on your PC. To get a better idea of the specs needed to run the new game, here are the official requirements as listed on Steam.

Minimum Requirements

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-6600 | AMD Ryzen™ 3 3100 or Ryzen™ 5 2600
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Nvidia GeForce® GTX 980 or AMD Radeon™ RX 470 or Intel® Arc™ A750
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Storage: 100 GB available space
  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 10/11 64-bit
  • Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-8400 | AMD Ryzen™ 5 3600X
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Nvidia GeForce® GTX 1080 Ti or AMD Radeon™ RX 5700 XT or Intel® Arc™ A770
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Storage: 100 GB available space

Although we currently only know the amount of storage space needed for PC, console players will likely also need to clear out memory this September as well.

Mortal Kombat 1 smashes onto PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC on September 19. You can also pre-order the game now to receive Shang Tsung as a playable character. Additionally, pre-ordering the Premium Edition will also give you access to six new playable characters, five new Kameo characters, a Jean-Claude Van Damme skin for Johnny Cage, a week of early access to DLC characters and 1250 Dragon Krystals (In-game Premium Currency).
