Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX global tournament announced

The tournament, the first to be held outside of Japan, is being held by Koei Tecmo.

The upcoming re-release of the first two Monster Rancher games is hitting digital store shelves next month! Combining both classic PlayStation monster raising games, Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX brings the titles to the Nintendo Switch, PC, and mobile devices on Dec. 9. To add more incentive for players to come in, Koei Tecmo has announced a Monster Rancher DX tournament that will be run around the world.

Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX executive producer Kazumi Fujita explains further:

“I am planning to hold a world tournament like the ones we have been running in Japan. We have never run a tournament like this outside of Japan. This is an endeavour to allow everyone around the world to take part and decide who is number one in the world. Since the original release of Monster Farm in Japan, and Monster Rancher globally, I have always dreamed of running a worldwide tournament. I am very excited to see this dream become a reality!”

What we know about the Monster Rancher DX tournament

As Fujita explained, Monster Rancher is no stranger to tournaments. The Japanese re-releases of Monster Rancher, for example, received a Tournament Mode after launch. This global tournament, however, will be the first time international players will get to participate as well.

Players can participate by raising monsters in-game and uploading data via a special tournament server alongside competitors around the world. We don’t have any other details on the details of the tournament; Koei Tecmo hasn’t even announced a date for the beginning of the tournament yet. However, we’re sure the company will provide more details at or after launch, and we can expect the tournament to begin sometime in 2022.

Monster Hunter 1 & 2 DX is developed and published by Koei Tecmo. It will launch globally on Dec. 9 for the Nintendo Switch, PC, and iOS devices. Pre-orders on the Nintendo eShop and Steam are available now.
