FUNIMATION WILL STREAM BEN-TO ANIME EPISODES IN AMERICA

The wait is over, Funimation adquired the rights to stream SEGA fanboy’s favorite anime: Ben-To in America, the episodes will be available this Tuesday, February 11th over here. If you are a SEGA Saturn fanboy this anime is a must for you, it is like a SEGA fighting game turned an anime series, there’s a SEGA reference in every single episode, and the 3 main characters are always up for a match on Virtua Fighter 2. Visit the Ben-To anime official site here to get all the SEGA Saturn and food references.

Ben-To is a series of light novels originally published on Shueisha’s Super Dash & Go, the story is about a SEGA otaku named You Satou who learns the fighting way of the wolves, a school club that fights for food (Ben-Tos) at convenience stores. Every fighter has a “nom de guerre” that makes them unique, including Sato’s mentor “the Ice Witch” and his Cousin, Shaga aka “the Beauty by the Lake”, which happens to be the must funny and my favorite character in the series. You can also get the digital novels over here.

FIGHTING CLIMAX GETS MORE CHARACTERS

Dengeki Bunko x SEGA upcoming arcade game, Fighiting Climax, will get more characters. Tomoka Minato from Ro-Kyu-Bu! will be a new playable character, while Hinata Hakamada, Koko Kaga from Golden Time, Kino from Kino’s Journey, Mashiro Shiina from The Pet Girl of Sakurasou, and Erio Towa from Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko are added as a whole bunch for support characters. We hope more SEGA characters rather than VF’s Akira or the Sonic, Valkirya Chonicles, and Sakura Taisen Stages get announced soon. The game is currently on spotlight at SEGA’s booth at JAEPO.
