Crazy Taxi-inspired indie game Taxi Chaos releases on Steam

Previously available on PS4, Switch, and Xbox, Taxi Chaos has driven its way onto PC via a Steam release.

Hey hey! Come on over and have some fun with Crazy Taxi Taxi Chaos! The indie spiritual successor to Crazy Taxi developed by Team6 Game Studios is now available on PC via Steam.

The game recreates the gameplay of the arcade classic Crazy Taxi for a modern audience, letting you pick up and deliver passengers while cruising through the streets of New Yellow City. Release earlier this year for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One, this Crazy Taxi clone received mixed reviews when it launched. However, the game has proven to be enough of a success to motivate Team6 and publisher Lion Castle to bring it over to PC.

Players on Steam can purchase Taxi Chaos right now. It normally goes for $24.99 USD, but at the time of writing, it’s on sale for $19.99.

Thinking of getting Taxi Chaos on Steam? Here’s what you need to know

Taxi Chaos wears its influence right on its sleeve as it’s basically Crazy Taxi in all but name. Everything from the basic gameplay to the wacky taxi physics to the general vibe is carried over. (Sadly, though, not the Offspring and Bad Religion soundtrack.)

Valentijn van der Lende, Market Director at the game’s publisher Lion Castle, said the following in a press release:

“All enthusiasm has been tremendous since we released Taxi Chaos on consoles earlier this year. One of the questions many players asked us was if we could also bring it to PC. Today, we’re happy to announce we can finally meet that request, as we release it on Steam. We hope this will allow many new players worldwide to enjoy this throwback to the classic taxi genre.”

Despite said enthusiasm, Taxi Chaos received mixed reviews from critics as many considered it an adequate but lacking recreation of the Crazy Taxi formula. The game also caused confusion before it launched as initial press releases named SEGA as the publisher — a claim which SEGA itself denied. To be clear: SEGA has nothing to do with Taxi Chaos, but it is the closest thing we’ve gotten to a new Crazy Taxi game in years.

Taxi Chaos is developed by Team6 Game Studios and published by Lion Castle. It is available now for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and now PC via Steam.
