Bayonetta 3, SIGNALIS, RE: Village Winters' Expansion and more!

Good morning, and happy Monday, everyone! As we kick off the new week, let’s take some time to look at some new releases. Whether you want to jump into the action-packed witchy adventure of Bayonetta 3 or experience some indie 2D horror in SIGNALIS, there’s something new for you. So, without further adieu, here are all the new games to look forward to launching this week.

Garbage Pail Kids: Mad Mike and the Quest for Stale Gum (Oct. 25)

Starting things off this week, we have Garbage Pail Kids: Mad Mike and the Quest for Stale Gum. Developed by Retrotainment Digital Eclipse and published by iam8bit Presents, this retro platformer brings the ’80s trading card game to life in video game form. The game’s story follows directly after the events of series of shorts Garbage Pail Kids: Fury Load and sets Mad Mike on a quest to find his beloved stale gum within a post-apocalyptic world.

Apart from the titular character, the game also allows you to play as Garbage Pail Kids favorites like Luke Puke, Leaky Lindsay and Patty Putty. Each of these characters have their own unique abilities that make them all worth trying in this retro throwback title. Garbage Pail Kids: Mad Mike and the Quest for Stale Gum launches tomorrow for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. Then, next year, it will also come to the original Nintendo Entertainment System as well.

SIGNALIS (Oct. 27)

Lurking into your home next is SIGNALIS. Developed by rose-engine and published by Humble Games, this retro-style horror puzzler sets up with a dystopian narrative where the powerful Eusan regime rules over the solar system with fear and violence. The game then kicks off when protagonist Replika Elster wakes up within her ship’s wreckage.

As she traverses a desolate wintry planet, Replika Elster becomes haunted by horrific visions of events that aren’t hers. Throughout this 2D horror experience, players will need to play smart, both in managing resources to survive horrifying enemies and in solving complex puzzles. SIGNALIS creeps out to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC on Thursday.

Star Ocean: The Divine Force (Oct. 27)

Then, developer Tri-Ace and publisher Square Enix bring us the next chapter in the Star Ocean saga with Star Ocean: The Divine Force. The game kicks off when Raymond Lawrence’s spaceship comes under attack by the Pangalactic Federation, sending him crashing onto an underdeveloped planet. There, he meets Princess Laeticia. And the two of them set off on a journey to protect her homeland from the invading empire.

Throughout the game, you can play as multiple characters who each bring their own unique abilities across a large environment that spans three different dimensions. This RPG promises an immersive experience where the choices your make will shake the entire foundation of the universe. You can start your journey on Thursday when Star Ocean: The Divine Force launches for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (Oct. 28)

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is the highly-anticipated follow-up to 2019’s critically-acclaimed reboot. Developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision, this first-person shooter promises a new era for Call of Duty with an unparalleled generational leap. The ambitious campaign will return your favorite Modern Warfare characters like Captain Price and Sergeant John “Soap” MacTtavish. Throughout the game, you’ll also go on missions that range from underwater combat to intense stealth missions.

In addition, the cooperative Special Ops mode returns to bring you and a friend hours of tactical team-based missions. Finally, the new game brings its staple multiplayer to the next level with all new innovations. One new addition includes a revamped Gunsmith that offers more customization than ever before in the franchise. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II marches out on Friday for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC.

Resident Evil Village: Winters’ Expansion (Oct. 28)

Normally, we don’t discuss DLC in the Weekly Release articles. However, we have to talk about the Winters’ Expansion coming to Resident Evil Village. The expansion offers a third-person mode to the base campaign, and new characters to The Mercenaries game mode. In addition, it also adds a brand new campaign. Dubbed Shadows of Rose, the story add-on follows 16 years after the events of the base game and places you into the shoes of Ethan’s daughter Rose.

The story sees Rose struggling with her powers as she enters the consciousness of the Megamycete to break free. As she traverses the mysterious realm, past memories come back to haunt her and create a twisted world of nightmares. The Winters’ Expansion to Resident Evil Village crawls out to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Stadia and PC on Friday.

Bayonetta 3 (Oct. 28)

Closing out this week, we have the long-awaited Bayonetta 3. Developed by PlatinumGames and published by Nintendo, this highly-anticipated sequel returns the titular witch to an all-new adventure. This time around, Bayonetta’s demon summoning skills see a major upgrade, as she can now summon her demonic forms at will.

In addition, the story also introduces a brand new playable character in Viola. The Umbra Witch in training brings a different set of skills to the table that relies more on raw power than the swiftness of Bayonetta. You can jump into Bayonetta 3 on Nintendo Switch this Friday.
