Atlus is teasing a Persona 5 Anniversary surprise

You’ll never see it coming – unless, of course, the developers give it away first.

Yep, fans of all things Joker and Morgana have ample reason to be getting pumped and busting out the birthday cake. The Persona series of jazzy, stylised RPG action games is celebrating its 25th anniversary in a mere 4 days’ time, with the fifth instalment’s 5th having already passed, and the folks behind it at Atlus are playing coy about what they’ve got a-percolatin’ for the occasion. And by ‘coy’, I mean ‘being the teasiest teases that ever teased in the history of teasingdom.’

In a report from ComicBook.com, we learned that “the official Twitter account for the series has teased a special Persona 5 announcement,” albeit one that “doesn’t offer up many clues.” In other words, don’t blame us if you walk away disappointed, folks. “It could be in reference to a new port of the game, but it could also be in reference to something much less consequential or maybe even more significant.”

It’s important to note that the so-called ‘tease’ was uncovered via translation of a Japanese Tweet; and as all users of Google Translate will know from attempting to cheese their high school homework, things of that nature don’t always go according to keikaku.

Just ask Zero Wing.

However, it’s my job to bring you all the news nonetheless (it says here), so the translation is as follows: “Celebrating the 5th anniversary since the release of Persona 5 in Japan, the Atlus Persona Twitter account says to keep your eyes peeled for more from Morgana and the rest of the Phantom Thieves, while using the Persona 25th Anniversary hashtag,” said Persona Central, a fan-run account. The OG Tweet is right below.

If nothing else, that’s some sick art.

Regardless of what this announcement transpires to be, you can bet we’ll be on it with coverage like flies to a… whatever attracts flies. Vinegar, a flame, or something? I tell you, I took a class on colloquials in college and… it’s all just gone.

Are you excited? Are you a Persona fan? Let us know!
