AEW confirms the title of their game and reveals new playable wrestlers

Evil Uno confirms that AEW Fight Forever will also be on PC.

This morning, All Elite Wrestling and developer Yuke’s revealed exciting new gameplay for their upcoming console game on Twitch.

Though brief, the new footage confirmed that both Kris Statlander and Nyla Rose will be playable wrestlers. In addition, AEW referee Aubrey Edwards will be in the game as well. In case you missed it, you can also watch both reveals below.

In addition to revealing new gameplay footage, host Evil Uno confirmed a couple other rumors and questions that recently came up. One important detail is that although the game has been referred to as the “AEW Console Game”, it will also launch on PC. Along with that news, Uno officially confirmed the rumor that the game’s official title is AEW Fight Forever.

AEW Fight Forever revives arcade-style wrestling

Earlier this month, AEW wrestler Kenny Omega explained the game’s direction to Wrestling Observer. Omega states that unlike WWE 2K22‘s focus on creating a hyper-realistic wrestling simulator, AEW Fight Forever intends to revive arcade-style gameplay.

We’ll never be [able] to compete with the production value of WWE’s games. You look at 2K22; it’s absolutely gorgeous… we just want the wrestling to feel like how it used to feel for the people who would play wrestling games back in the day.

After watching the most recent gameplay footage showcasing Kris Statlander and Nyla Rose, it’s clear what Omega means. While the graphics may not appear as photo-realistic as WWE’s latest offering, the movements look fluid, fast-paced and hard hitting. Watching AEW Fight Forever’s in-ring action, it’s evident that developer Yuke’s is harkening back to the days of Here Comes the Pain.

While that’s likely to divide both wrestling fans and gamers alike, it’s fantastic news for those of us who grew up with the classic wrestling titles. It’s also nice to see that AEW is offering players an alternative to the slow-paced simulation games of recent years. Because I enjoy both playstyles, it will be fun to switch back and forth between Fight Forever and 2K22, as opposed to if the games played too similarly.

Although there is no confirmed release date, AEW Fight Forever will launch this year for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC. Do you think the game will truly be All Elite? Let us know your thoughts down in the comments!
