You need to see these awesome fan-made Mortal Kombat finishers!

At least Sonya gives Kung Lao a break.

In addition to the fighting game’s addictive gameplay, the Mortal Kombat series is synonymous with its wicked fatalities. Aside from putting parents and lawmakers alike in a frenzy, these controversial moves paved the way for future M-rated games. However, Mortal Kombat’s fatalities aren’t just about the gratuitous violence; they also reinforce the game’s unique style and dark humor. And while the task of faithfully interpreting that style with a new set of moves may seem impossible, these fan-made Mortal Kombat finishers pull it off to near perfection.

Meet WeaponTheory, the content creator who created new retro-style finishing moves that could easily fit in the real game. One impressive move is a new fatality for Reptile. The move, titled “Acidic Marinade,” sees Reptile pull his opponent with his tongue into a giant ball of recently-projected acid. He then holds his opponent (in this case, Kung Lao) in place until his skin melts away. If that’s not enough, Reptile kicks the body to pieces as one final blow.

Kung Lao also becomes the victim of Cyrax’s devastating fan-made fatality. After Cyrax gets a case of a nasty computer virus, he freaks out and injects the shaolin with some bizarre Space Invaders-inspired creatures. Upon throwing up the sci-fi mites, they proceed to rain down and explode on Kung Lao.

Fortunately, Kung Lao finally catches a break with Sonya Blade’s new finisher. Instead of the bloody fatalities WeaponTheory created for the other Kombatants, Sonya opts for a friendship. The humorous and lighthearted ending sees her proceed a workout regimen that includes some of her iconic fighting moves.
