Yakuza and Persona gain popularity in SEGA’s latest sales report

Both Persona and Yakuza have seen a massive increase in popularity in the last five years. The Persona series has been around since 1996 and Yakuza made its debut in 2005, with both franchises releasing a series of critically acclaimed titles since then.

In SEGA’s latest annual sales report, we can see both franchises have only picked up steam (no pun intended). Since 1996, the Persona franchise has sold over 13.1 million units worldwide, with Persona 5 Royal hitting record sales in the west in the past year.

For the Yakuza franchise, they have enjoyed 14 million lifetime sales since 2005, which is a 2 million sales increase from last year’s lifetime sales report.
