Yakuza 6 demo has been removed from PlayStation Store already

SEGA says the reason is because some users were able to unlock the full game. Whoops!

Today was supposed to be a big day for Yakuza fans as SEGA announced that the long-awaited Yakuza 6: The Song of Life demo was now available to download on the PlayStation Store for PS4 owners.

Imagine my confusion when I came home from work and immediately went to download said demo and only received an error message that read “This content cannot be selected at this time.”

Confused, angry and feeling the need to whine about it on social media, I tweeted the following:

Around the same time, SEGA tweeted out a message announcing they had to remove the demo.

“We apologize, but have had to remove the Yakuza 6: The Song of Life demo from the PlayStation Store. We are as upset as you are, and had hoped to have this demo available for everyone today. We discovered that some were able to use the demo to unlock the full game. We’re looking into the nature of the issue. Thank you for your patience.”

SEGA hasn’t said when the demo will be made available again or what it plans to do for those scoundrels who unlocked the full game without paying. Personally, we hope SEGA will force download a copy of Bonanza Bros. on their cellphone that makes them actively play the game for at least 30 minutes before their phone will unlock.

Once the Yakuza 6 demo is back online, players will be able to carry over all achievements and progress they made to the full game when it releases on April 17.
