Xbox just had its best March sales in 11 years

Xbox Series

It is no secret that the new generation of consoles are hard to find. But the tides might be turning if you are looking for an Xbox. According to NPD, Microsoft’s consoles led regarding hardware profit for March 2022 and the entire first quarter in the US. The news makes sense if you break it down.

Most stores carry the Xbox Series S now. If you go to your local retailer, the less powerful new-gen console is well in stock with Nintendo Switch units. What about the Series X? That system also is becoming easier to find in the wild. Best Buy just recently had a massive restock in most stores.

Does Xbox have supply under control now?

So how did this lead to Xbox making the most money on hardware sales? Easy. The PlayStation 5 is still in scarce supply, so they can not even come close to competing, even with demand incredibly high. And the Switch is cheaper than both versions of the Series systems. While the Switch technically sold more units in Q1, Xbox made more in hardware sales due to the higher prices.

It is a significant sign that Microsoft seems to be getting the Series systems in stock now. With PlayStation still struggling to keep the PS5 in stock, Xbox could get a boost in player base in the time it takes for Sony to get the console regularly on the market. It will be a riveting narrative to concentrate on for the rest of the year.

What do you think about Xbox leading profit for March? Is it a sign that they have supply under control for the Series systems? Let us know in the comments below!
