Xbox Cloud Gaming gets massive improvements

Microsoft is putting everything it can into its Xbox Cloud Gaming service. While the service has been successful so far, there is still much that can be improved upon, mainly in the fields of streaming quality and latency. It seems like now those critical flaws are getting addressed.

In a post on Xbox Insider, Nicole Hilbert confirmed that the team has vastly improved the quality on iOS devices. This is impressive considering the fact iOS still does not have a dedicated app for the service. But nonetheless, the team at Xbox has optimized video output on iOS devices and optimized network data transmission to speed up the responsiveness of Xbox Cloud Gaming. The post also confirms that button latency has seen major improvements on all devices.

Time to put the Xbox Could Gaming improvements to the test

I’ve had Xbox Cloud Gaming on my phone for about a year now. The post addresses some of the major concerns I’ve run into using the system on my iPhone. So, for this post, I decided to see if I noticed an improvement using my Backbone controller. Suffice to say, it is a giant leap forward! Streets Of Rage 4 now works without nearly as much latency as it did before. While the video can dip in quality, I can live with that as long as my button commands are read correctly. The service still does not offer 4K on supported devices. It can hit 1080p at 60FPS! If you want the true 4K streaming experience, Nvidia’s GeForce Now is still the best bet.

Have you tried out the improvements to Xbox Cloud Gaming yet? What do you think could be fixed about it? Let us know below!
