Uncharted movie drops official extended clip

Seems like a long fall for Nathan Drake…

The past few years have been big on video game movies and shows. From Arcane to Sonic the Hedgehog, games are becoming increasingly adapted to different formats. The Uncharted series is no exception, with the eponymous movie following suit. In building excitement for the movie, Sony revealed an extended clip for the film during the CES 2022 press conference.

What’s the Uncharted movie about?

Uncharted follows street-smart thief Nathan “Nate” Drake recruited by seasoned treasure hunter Victor “Sully” Sullivan. Seeking a lost fortune, their heist becomes a race to claim a prize before another catches hold of it. Through deciphering clues, Nate and Sully may lay claim to a $5 billion treasure and the truth of Nate’s long-lost brother.

The extended clip features Sully and Nate escaping an airplane. Sully jumps ship rather quickly, leaving Nate behind. Dodging gunfire in an action-packed scene, Nate nearly loses his life as he’s dragged off on a line of cargo. As he struggles against a gunman, Moncada, a ruthless treasure hunter, faces off in the pit. The clip ends right as Nate’s hurtled back off the plane, leaving his fate unclear.

Although this scene in particular has been featured in the movie trailers quite often, it’s possible Sony wants to hold back more of the action for later. The film looks like a fun action adventure so far. In my opinion, the casting for the movie looks pretty solid as well. Particularly, casting Tom Holland as Nathan Drake seems like a great move. Because the Uncharted movie acts as a prequel to the main series, his younger appearance matches up well.

When will the full movie be released?

The wait for the Uncharted movie won’t last much longer. Uncharted releases Feb. 11, 2022 in the United Kingdom and Feb. 18, 2022 in the United States. Of all the video games to be adapted to film, I think this series has a good chance of standing up to the big screen. Seeing as it was inspired by similar content such as Indiana Jones, Nathan Drake may have an exciting story to tell us in live-action.
