Triangle Strategy sales hit 800,000

Tactical RPG fans rejoice! It seems Triangle Strategy is on its way to becoming a surprise hit! Square Enix announced that the game is nearing 800,000 units sold between physical and digital copies. 200,000 units came from Japan and Asia alone. To commemorate the achievement, illustrator Naoki Ikushima drew some new artwork you can find below!

These are remarkable numbers considering the game only came out on March 4th. At this rate, Triangle Strategy should easily cross the million sales mark. It’s a bigger shock when you account that the game is only available on the Nintendo Switch. It could take the same strategy as Octopath Traveler and be a timed exclusive? But it looks like the game will already be a success before that happens.

It’s outstanding to see tactical RPGs making a comeback too, especially on the Switch! Fire Emblem Three Houses proved the player-base wanted the genre with its tremendous success. Now, Triangle Strategy is proving the genre has some serious power for the console. Maybe this could lead Square into considering a collection or remaster of Final Fantasy Tactics? I can dream, right?

Triangle Strategy is available now for Nintendo Switch. Are you thinking about getting the game in the future? Let us know below in the comments!
