SEGA Sapporo Studio: New SEGA development studio trademarked

SEGA announces a new development location.

Heads up! SEGA just filed for trademarks for SEGA Sapporo Studio on October 11, 2021 in both English and Japanese. It looks like there may be a new studio in development moving forward in the capital city of Hokkaido, Japan.

The new studio trademark was only released to the public today, October 25, 2021. Currently, SEGA has other active studios, including its headquarters in Shinagawa, Tokyo, and international locations SEGA of America and SEGA Europe in Irvine, California and London, England respectively.

Sapporo used to be home to various other studios, such as Konami and Nintendo; they have since closed those locations. SEGA’s announcement may be a new wave for the gaming hub in Sapporo.

The Sapporo studio would be the latest in a long list of studios owned by SEGA. The recently acquired Amplitude Studios launched Humankind in August to rave reviews. ATLUS helped SEGA reach new heights with the Persona series, while Two Point Studios added another feather in their cap with Two Point Hospital and the upcoming Two Point Campus.

No specific details have been released regarding the trademark or what SEGA has planned for SEGA Sapporo Studio. Whatever it is, we can’t wait to find out.
