SEGA and LEGO green light a fan-made Sonic set for production

The blue blur gets the green light

Back in 2019, Sonic fan toastergrl had an amazing idea for a LEGO set. The set featured the classic Sonic characters, inspired by 2017’s Sonic Mania. If their idea reached 10,000 supporters, LEGO would approve the project and commence discussions with SEGA.

LEGO officially announced the news on their own blog too:

The review board has given Viv Grannell’s (aka toastergrl on LEGO Ideas) Sonic Mania – Green Hill Zone the green light. We’re excited to collaborate with SEGA and Viv to bring one of the most iconic game characters and brands to life via LEGO bricks on the basis of Viv’s colourful and fun creation. Congrats Viv!

According to LEGO, the official design, pricing and release date are still up in the air.

Congratulations to toastergrl for the amazing LEGO Idea! I can’t wait to get my hands on one of these sets.
