Pyramid Head designer wishes he didn’t create the creature

Pyramid Head

Well, here’s a weird story for the day? Most people know Pyramid Head. The most horrific monster from Silent Hill. The creature has become a mascot of sorts for the franchise. You would think the character’s creator would be proud of their work. Right? Apparently not.

Masahiro Ito, the creator of the character, recently tweeted that he wished he didn’t design “f’ing Pyramid Head.” His words, not mine. Here’s the tweet.

Why hate creating Pyramid Head?

Now, what could be the reason Ito wishes he didn’t make Pyramid Head? He was the art director on Silent Hill 2 and 3. Is it because he like another creature he designed more? Is he still disturbed by the context in which the creature is used in the game? There could be a ton of possibilities?

If your guess is royalties, Ito debunked that in a follow-up tweet. He confirmed that he’s never been paid royalties in merchandise in the first place. So what could the mysterious reason be? Part of me thinks he knows it’s inevitable Konami finds another scummy way to profit off his creation. Given Konami’s full approval of NFT plans, he might know what’s coming.

What are your thoughts on the situation? What could cause Ito to regret creating Pyramid Head? Let us know below!
