PlayStation 5 has begun beta testing for 1440p Output

One of the excellent features of the new generation of consoles is the ability to update the system through firmware downloads. While this has been around since the seventh generation of consoles, the upgrades now are seismic compared to then. Significantly, a new update is coming to PlayStation 5 very soon.

Sony has begun allowing players to beta test 1440p HDMI Output for the system. This all but confirms the feature is on the way. Sony also confirmed they are testing game lists and new PS5 UX enhancements and features. You can check out the announcement tweet below.

1440p is one of the most requested features from users of the PlayStation 5. Most televisions can’t hit 2140p/ But a good amount can now hit 1440p. So it makes sense to get that to players ASAP of the PlayStation 4 who mostly do console gaming on TV. The game list feature also looks like a fantastic way to categorize your collection. Now I’ll be able to find my backlog quicker!

The PlayStation 5 is becoming more straightforward to find in the wild than a few months ago. If you’ve been hunting for the system, now is the time to start checking your local retailers. Are you excited that 1440p is coming to the system soon? Let us know in the comments below!
