Overwatch 2 joins this week’s upcoming games

Overwatch 2 launches tomorrow. Plus, Switch players can get their hands on NieR: Automata and No Man's Sky!

Happy Monday, everyone! As we enter the new week, we have a lot of new games to look forward to. Whether you want to compete with your friends in Overwatch 2 or get your hands on the Nintendo Switch version of NieR: Automata, there’s something for you. So, without further adieu, here are all the new games coming out this week!

Overwatch 2 (Oct. 4)

Starting things off this week, we have Overwatch 2. Developed and published by Blizzard, the sequel to the critically-acclaimed hero shooter takes what fans loved from the first game, and dials it up to 11. Visually, the new game offers up a much sleeker user interface and impressive graphics that hold up to a 120 FPS framerate.

In addition, other changes aim to provide matches more balance. For example, Blizzard altered its format from 6v6 to 5v5, as well as adjusted the strengths and weaknesses of heroes to make them better balanced. You can blast into Overwatch 2 tomorrow when it hits PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.

Dakar Desert Rally (Oct. 4)

Speeding into your homes next is Dakar Desert Rally. Developed by Saber Porto and published by Saber Interactive, this off-road racing game claims to be the “biggest and most epic” of its genre. Offering up a variety of motorcycles, cars, trucks and quads to choose from, this title promises high-speed desert rally racing like none other.

To make the game more realistic, the developers also included dynamic physics, seasons and weather mechanics. In addition to competitive multiplayer, players can also cruise the vast wilds in its casual single-player mode. Dakar Desert Rally races out to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC tomorrow.

Deathverse: Let it Die (Oct. 5)

Then, developer Supertrick Games and publisher Gungho Online Entertainment bring their new arena fighter to PC. Though it first launched on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 last week, PC players will finally get to brawl it out in Deathverse: Let it Die. Set in the same universe as 2016’s Let it Die, the new title places you into the ultra-intense melee combat tournament Deathverse.

The game offers a variety of unique fighters to choose from, who each have their own unique abilities and weapons. In addition, the game also boasts a deep weapon customization feature, which allows players to hone its details to get a cutting edge over the competition. Deathverse: Let it Die hits PCs on October 5.

NieR: Automata (Oct. 6)

Though it previously launched for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, Nintendo Switch players can now finally get their hands on NieR: Automata. Developed by Platinum Games and published by Square Enix, this action-packed game puts players right into a conflict to take back the dystopian world by the machines that run it. As the androids 2B, 9S and A2, can you take back the world from the powerful weapons known as machine life forms?

The game challenges you with fast-paced combat that emphasizes both melee and ranged attacks. In addition to facing hordes of enemies across large open fields, you’ll also take on an array of challenging bosses. Nintendo Switch players can finally take a swing at NieR: Automata on October 6.

No Man’s Sky (Oct. 7)

Closing out this week is another previously released game that will make its Nintendo Switch debut. In No Man’s Sky, players can explore and survive in an infinite procedurally generated universe. Although Hello Games’ ambitious title first received criticism for not living up to the hype, the developers since updated the game to be larger and more life-filled.

Initially launched in 2016 for PlayStation 4 and PC, the game relied on its platforms’ vast power to infinitely create new worlds and locations. However, even then, the game experienced its share of bugs. Regardless, the developers worked diligently to rectify the issues, and since made the game workable on the significantly less powerful Nintendo Switch. You can soar into No Man’s Sky on Nintendo Switch on October 7.

What upcoming games will you be playing this week?

All in all, this week looks like another exciting time for gamers. For Nintendo Switch players, you can look forward to jumping into two previously released games on your console for the first time. Additionally, all gamers can look forward to the next generation of hero shooters with Overwatch 2. But which new game are you most excited for?
