Ocarina of Time PC port comes to Mac and Wii U

You can now play the unofficial PC port on Mac and a (modified) Wii U console.

Let it never be said that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time doesn’t have everlasting appeal. It continues to be a major influence on video games even as it approaches its 25th anniversary next year. It was recently enshrined in the Video Game Hall of Fame and was also recently ported (unofficially) to PC. Now, the Ocarina of Time PC port runs on Mac OS and the Wii U.

Habour Masters, the team behind the PC port, announced the latest version of the project in a recent Nintendo Direct-style video. In addition to the new Mac and Wii U support for the PC version, it’s added a few extra goodies as well. This new version, dubbed Racheal Alfa, adds higher framerates, equippable items on the D-pad, a free camera, and randomizer support in addition to minor improvements.

Playing Ocarina of Time PC on Mac OS and Wii U

This port of Ocarina of Time is an unofficial version of the game that runs natively on PC. Compiled by analyzing the game’s leaked source code, the port also runs smoother than the original thanks to lacking hardware constraints. It includes improvements like higher framerates (up to 60 FPS previously), widescreen support, and upscaled resolutions. Now you can run this version of Ocarina of Time on Mac OS and Wii U as well. (NOTE: Your Wii U needs to be hacked to run this port.)

This latest version of the PC port comes with its own set of additional goodies for players to sink their teeth into, regardless of platform. New features include:

  • Free camera mode
  • Equip items to your D-pad
  • Support for up to 250 frames per second
  • Item randomizer, based on the Ocarina of Time Randomizer
