Nintendo Switch port of Star Wars: KOTOR release date revealed

The Force reawakens this November on Nintendo Switch.

The beloved RPG Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic will come to Nintendo Switch November 11.

The news broke yesterday during the Nintendo Direct livestream on YouTube. The game is a direct port of the original 2003 version of Knights of the Old Republic. Originally developed by BioWare, Aspyr Media is both the developer and publisher for the Switch port. IGN posted a short trailer showcasing the Nintendo Switch edition on YouTube.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic allows players to choose between becoming a legendary Jedi or succumbing to the temptations of the dark side. Fans cherish this classic game from the early 2000s because of its expansive storytelling, emotional narrative and moral choices that impact its outcome.

The successful game spawned a sequel. However, since the cancellation of the planned third game, KOTOR was largely pushed aside. That all changed this year during Sony’s recent video conference when Aspyr Media announced a remake for the game. However, talks of bringing Knights of the Old Republic were going on well before the official announcement. BioWare’s founders originally pitched a remastered collection for the first two games. Although, their idea was shut down.

As eager as fans are to get their hands on the remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, we are still a ways off. In the meantime, the newly announced Nintendo Switch port should do well to satiate hungry fans dying to get back into George Lucas’ galaxy. Knights of the Old Republic on Nintendo Switch is available to pre-order through the Nintendo eShop. The game costs $14.99 and releases November 11 this year. May the Force be with you!
