San Diego Comic Con was a huge event for Mortal Kombat 1. Though traditionally, Scorpion’s identity is Hanzo Hazashi, this time, Kuai Liang will take on the mantle.

More characters join the MK1 roster

In the same interview, the team also breaks down and discusses some of the other characters recently confirmed to join the game. In case you missed it, NetherRealm also unveiled two klassic characters joining the game’s base roster in a new trailer. In addition, the studio also dropped a second trailer, confirming the characters you can expect for future DLC updates.

One of the characters announced to join the roster at launch is Li Mei. Her last appearance in a Mortal Kombat title came 15 years ago with Mortal Kombat Armageddon. She is an Umgadi warrior for Outworld, who serves as the first constable of Outworld’s capital city.

Alongside Li Mei, another returning character with new origins is Baraka. Though in the past, Baraka’s monstrous appearance was a feature of the Tarkatan race, in the new universe the teeth deformities stem from a genetic disease. You can see both Li Mei and Baraka’s introductions in the new Umgadi trailer below!
