Netflix is adapting Tekken into an anime

Netflix has been on a hot streak lately with video game adaptations. First was Castlevania, then came Arcane. Both saw massive critical and commercial success. It makes sense Netflix isn’t done with the video game adaptations. What’s next? Strap on your gloves, because it’s Tekken

Netflix has shown off the first trailer for the upcoming anime adaptation Tekken: Bloodline! While no synopsis has been given, the trailer shows a young Jin Kazama living with his mother Jun until Ogre attacks. This sends Jin to train with his grandfather, the famed Heihachi Mishima. This would place the adaptation between the second and third games in the franchise. More than likely, the fights are heavily based on the third entry. You can check out and dissect the first trailer below.

Can this finally be a good Tekken adaptation?

If there’s one positive to this adaptation, it’s that we do know Harada himself is all for it! He wasn’t for some of the others. If you weren’t aware, Tekken has had two animated films and two live-action adaptations that are not very good. The animated films are ok, but the live-action adaptation has a phenomenal 0% on Rotten Tomatoes. The fact Harada is promoting this already tells me he’s confident the team is going to get his franchise right.

If you want to play the most recent game in the franchise, Tekken 7, it’s available now on PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, and PC. Do you think Netflix can nail this adaptation like the other video game adaptations? Let us know below!
