Mortal Kombat’s Ed Boon agrees Omni-Man ‘could work’ as guest fighter

The Mortal Kombat franchise has seen an enormous resurgence in popularity, following the release of the last three core titles. MK 11 did tremendously with critics and sales, and its “Ultimate Edition” did the same. The Ultimate Edition include the previous two Kombat Packs and upgraded graphics/performance for PS5/Xbox Series X users.

Some fans still believe they can get more out of MK creator Ed Boon and constantly bombard him with ideas of guest fighters and character returns. This past week, one fan suggested Omni-Man wreak havoc on our kombatants for Kombat Pack 3. For the uninformed, Omni-Man is a Superman-like character in the Invincible comic book series.

Amazon’s adaption of Invincible has been quite successful. Omni-Man is voiced J. Jonah Jameson actor J.K. Simmons. In the show, Omni-Man violently attacked other individuals without a clear explanation. Most people believe the actions you see in the show would make him an ideal candidate (kandidate?) for a third Kombat pack. Mortal Kombat director Ed Boon seems to agree with the sentiment:

Unfortunately, it looks like Ed Boon is done with any more Kombat packs for Mortal Kombat 11. That doesn’t mean he can’t make an appearance in Mortal Kombat 12, or whatever they plan on calling the next game. Maybe they’ll go back to the cool names like we saw in the PS2 era?
