Monster Hunter Rise will receive Ghosts ‘n Goblins and Sonic collaborations

Capcom will introduce new items inspired by Ghosts 'n Goblins and Sonic in the coming months.

At Tokyo Game Show 2021, Capcom revealed two upcoming collaborations for Monster Hunter Rise: Ghosts ‘n Goblins and Sonic the Hedgehog. The company showed off the details for the Ghosts ‘n Goblins crossover event, which is set to launch on Oct. 29; information on the Sonic collaboration will be revealed at a later time.

The Ghosts ‘n Goblins event, specifically designed around the newly-released Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection, includes a set of armor modeled around Sir Arthur’s. Arthur’s famous knight’s armor, shield, lance, and hammer are equipable in the game, letting players take on the role of the beloved monster hunter.

All about the Monster Hunter and Ghosts ‘n Goblins collab

The Ghosts ‘n Goblins collab is the fifth of its kind for Monster Hunter Rise. Players will be able to wear the famous knight’s armor of Sir Arthur, equipable as layered armor in the game. You’ll also have access to Arthur’s lance and hammer, two iconic weapons from the Ghosts ‘n Goblins series.

As shown in the trailer, your character’s animations will also change to ones inspired by Ghosts ‘n Goblins when wearing the armor. The attention to detail in bringing these animations to life is noteworthy, as even in 3D, the movements look just as they did in the original games.

Previously, Capcom designed crossover events around Monster Hunter Stories 2, Okami, Street Fighter, and Mega Man. Each collaboration included its own quests that award special armor and costumes. The Sonic event will be noteworthy, however, as the first non-Capcom franchise to receive a Monster Hunter Rise crossover. We’ll have to wait and see what Capcom has in store for the Sonic collab, but for now, we’re eagerly anticipating taking down these giant monsters as Sir Arthur.

Monster Hunter Rise is developed and published by Capcom. The Ghosts ‘n Goblins collab will go live on Oct. 29. You can also view the whole TGS Monster Hunter event here.
