Kirby’s Dream Buffet gets served this summer

It looks like a simple little racing / eating hybrid starring everyone's favorite pink puffball.

We’ve already had a delicious main course of Kirby this year with the excellent Kirby and the Forgotten Land. But it seems like this meal isn’t quiet over yet, as Nintendo and HAL Laboratory have another morsel in store for us later down the road. Kirby’s Dream Buffet launches in Summer 2022 for the Nintendo Switch eShop.

Just announced today, it’s a 4-player party game where players race through food-based obstacle courses. It looks like a modern take on the classic Kirby Super Star minigame Gourmet Race, with more emphasis on the gourmet part. And from the brief trailer we’ve got, it appears to be a delectable little morsel.

Cooking up a party game with Kirby’s Dream Buffet

In Kirby’s Dream Buffet, you and three others take control of Kirby and all attempt to race to the end of the stage while eating as much as you can. It’s a simple, sweet idea that should make for a fun romp. The cinematic trailer for the game is absolutely adorable, and the game looks like it’ll be a charming little mini-game.

You might be surprised to see a new Kirby title appear so quickly after Kirby and the Forgotten Land dropped this spring. But it’s already clear that this game is on a much smaller scale, like the various Kirby minigames available on the 3DS and Switch eShop.

We don’t know when exactly the game will launch, but it’s due for later this summer. We believe the title will likely be free to play for anyone that has a Switch Online subscription, but this obviously remains to be seen. It seems we’ll just have to wait and see.

Will you be trying out Kirby’s Dream Buffet when it launches this summer? Let us know!
