Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning Fatesworn expansion launches on Dec. 14

The long-awaited Fatesworn expansion promises six hours of story content in addition to new items, enemies, and music.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning, the updated re-release of the 2012 action-RPG by 38 Studios, is finally getting its expansion Fatesworn later this month. The DLC adventure will take players on a journey through a brand new kingdom with new gameplay mechanics, six hours of story content, and a raised level cap.

This is the first major expansion for Kingdoms of Amalur since THQ Nordic acquired the license to the game. Re-Reckoning featured updated graphics and contained all the original game’s content. Now, players can dive back into Amalur and experience a brand new adventure.

What we know about Kingdoms of Amalur: Fatesworn so far

Fatesworn promises a brand-new storyline taking place in a new environment called Mithros. THQ Nordic outlined the major additions to Kingdoms of Amalur that Fatesworn will bring in a press release:

Journey to a brand new Amalur environment filled with snowy tundras, deep caverns, and treacherous enemies, and visit mountain villages and the ancient lakeside city of Crownhold. Master the unstable power of Chaos with a unique new non-combat Skill tree and class of weapons and armor. As the fabled Fatesworn, you will wage a last battle against the Niskaru and their Chaos brethren, as procedurally generated Chaos dungeons turn every region in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning into a potential battlefield.

In addition to six hours of brand-new story content, Fatesworn includes new sidequests and faction quests that players can undertake. The expansion also raises the level cap to 50 and includes new dungeon sets, enemies, items, equipment, and locations. The game’s original composer Grant Kirkhope, known chiefly for his soundtracks under Rare, has also returned to score the expansion.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning — Fatesword is developed by Kaiko and published by THQ Nordic. It will be available on Dec. 14 on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch for $19.99 USD. You can also pick up the base game for $39.99 or the Fate Edition Bundle, which includes Re-Reckoning and Fatesword, for $54.99.
