Jaleco Arcade 1 and Gaelco Arcade 2 coming to Evercade this July

The Evercade is a pretty neat bit of kit. If you’ve ever fancied playing a host of retro/arcade games that ordinarily wouldn’t have seen modern physical releases, or simply like the tactile thrill of your collector’s shelf gradually beginning to heave under the weight of all your classic-style cartridges, it’s worth a go. All of its titles, which come from a wide range of studios including Atari and Bandai-Namco, are booted by slotting a cart into the top – just the way things used to be, before things got all scary and digital. Come back, 90s. All – well, most – is forgiven.

Now, two new arcade collections are headed to the system. Per Evercade’s official blog, Jaleco Arcade 1 and Gaelco Arcade 2 are inbound; and if those names mean absolutely nothing to you, stay tuned, because you’re in luck. They provide a description. Jaleco Arcade 1 “brings 8 excellent arcade games from the popular Japanese publisher, which has already released a home console collection with Evercade previously.”

Included in that particular collection are the following games:

  • Rod Land
  • The Astyanax
  • Saint Dragon (which some of you guessed from our teaser)
  • 64th Street: A Detective Story
  • E.D.F. Earth Defence Force
  • Avenging Spirit
  • CyBattler
  • P-47: The Phantom Fighter.

Astyanax? Ask my axe.

Alongside this, “we return to Spain and bring 6 more hidden gems to Evercade with Gaelco Arcade 2.” Gracias, senors. This cartridge packs in “two sequels, two sports titles, and a puzzle game, alongside what many consider to be Gaelco’s defining platform title.” The exact contents? Avail of this handy list:

  • Big Karnak
  • Maniac Square
  • Squash
  • TH Strikes Back: Thunder Hoop 2
  • Touch and Go
  • World Rally 2.

See, I’ve always been more partial to small Karnaks, myself. How about you? Do you own an Evercade? Will you be picking these compilations up? Let us know!

Via, Evercade.
