Insane Pain, cyberpunk Genesis fighter, receives full Kickstarter funding

The retro fighting game will now have a high-quality physical release thanks to the successful Kickstarter campaign.

Insane Pain, a retro cyberpunk fighting game for the SEGA Genesis, passed its funding goal on Kickstarter earlier today. Developed by Blast Process Games, a small global indie team, the fighter was around 98% complete when the studio launched the Kickstarter campaign last month. Since it’s been fully funded, Insane Pain will now have a high-quality physical release as well.

Blast Process Games created the Kickstarter to fund a physical Insane Pain release with DragonBox Shop. Supporters of the campaign will receive a purple Genesis cartridge containing the game with a print label included. Higher tiers included a magnetic box, a printed game manual, and a collector card.

What’s included in the Insane Pain Kickstarter rewards?

Backers of the Insane Pain Kickstarter will receive the game on a purple Genesis cartridge with a high-quality print label included. The Game Only Cartridge tier, true to its name, only receives the game cartridge itself. Blast Process Games also offered a Basic Edition which contained the game, a high-quality magnetic case, and a game manual and collector card included as physical add-ons.

Previously, backers had the option to choose from higher tiers that included goodies like a comic, a poster, a customized game start screen, and an action figure of Princess, one of the fighters in the game. However, those tiers have sold out as of writing.

Blast Process Games took the time to celebrate the campaign’s success over on Twitter:

According to Kickstarter, the game is expected to ship out by the end of 2022. Given that Blast Process Games is shipping internationally, it’s of course best to take that with a grain of salt. Still, we can’t wait to get our hands on this retro fighter when it finally ships out.

Have you back Insane Pain? Excited to get your fists dirty when it launches? Let us know!
