Enter the MultiVersus Open Beta today!

Create your dream Warner Bros. matchups today!

The time is finally here! Warner Bros.’ wild platform fighter MultiVersus begins officially begins its Open Beta today.

Last week, the game entered its Early Access phase. Players who participated in the Closed Alpha, as well as those who received a special code through Twitch drops, got the chance to experience the action a week early. In addition, players who purchased the $40 Founder’s Pack on Steam also could enjoy Early Access.

Beginning today at noon EDT (9 a.m. PDT/5 p.m. BST/6 p.m. CET), the MultiVersus Open Beta will be available to all players in North America, South America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Unlike most games in open beta, MultiVersus technically has no official end date. As the full game will already be free-to-play, its beta serves as an unofficial “soft launch”.

Instead, developer Player First Games state they will periodically provide updates that include new characters, maps and seasonal content. In fact, the first major character update comes today as basketball star LeBron James makes his way into the game. You can also see how James plays in the character reveal trailer.

What you should know about the MultiVersus Open Beta

When you download the Open Beta, you will have four characters available to you from the start. These include Superman, Finn The Human, Garnet and original character Reindog. However, you can also unlock the other characters in a couple of ways.

The first way you can unlock new characters in MultiVersus is through grinding. Playing the game earns you Gold, which works as one of the two in-game currencies. Along with purchasing characters, Gold also buys new perks and toasts.

For those who want to unlock characters faster, you can purchase Gleamium. Gleamium is the second in-game currency that requires microtransactions to acquire. Along with acting as a second way to purchase unlockable characters, you can also use Gleamium to buy cosmetic items like character skins.

Progression and Rewards trailer

Fortunately for players, it appears that Player First Games and Warner Bros. are sticking to one of their promises about microtransactions. They stated that the game will not be pay-to-win, and that microtransactions will not give players gameplay advantages. In addition, the game will also not feature loot boxes.

Another great feature about the MultiVersus Open Beta is its cross-platform capabilities. In addition to offering cross-play amongst users on different systems, it also features cross-progression among platforms as well. This means that stats and unlockables you attain from one platform transfer to any other system you use.

When you begin the Open Beta, you’ll also have several match-types and maps to try out. The modes include 2 vs. 2, 1 vs. 1 and 4-player free-for-all. In addition, you can play both locally and online against other players and AI. You can also create custom lobbies and practice your skills with tutorials.

You can enter the MultiVersus Open Beta today for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC. What matchups are you excited to bring to life? What characters do you most look forward to trying? As always, share your thoughts with us in the comments!
