Cuphead – The Delicious Last Course launches on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC

All aboard for D.L.C. Island!

Cuphead, developed and published by Studio MDHR, stood out for its unique style inspired by rubber hose animation and has been lauded for its gameplay and difficulty. Its distinct style continues in the new Cuphead – The Delicious Last Course, announced just last week on December 9, 2021.

What can we expect from Cuphead – The Delicious Last Course?

The original Cuphead follows the titular protagonist and his brother, Mugman. Traveling around Inkwell Isle, the brothers fight to obtain their contracts after losing a bet with the Devil. With its run-and-gun type levels and side-scrolling shoot ‘em ups, the game received critical and commercial success. Now, the world of Cuphead returns in a new DLC.

As you might’ve already noticed, the title of the extension cleverly plays on the term “DLC”. With the brothers off on a journey and joined by a new character, the clever Ms. Chalice, they explore an undiscovered Inkwell Isle. From the icy tundra to the western plains, the three seem to be going on quite the adventure. Including new weapons, magical charms, and a new set of abilities with Ms. Chalice, the trio takes on new challenges.

Its trailer showcases puppetry, model work, marionettes, stop motion, and 2D animation, creating an interesting blend for its surrealist qualities. The trailer even has that classic ‘20’s feeling, with “The Devil’s Horns Brass Band” playing in the background. The feeling of the Cuphead game carries a feeling of nostalgia with its distinct elements.

When will the DLC release?

Cuphead – The Delicious Last Course launches on June 30, 2022. Available on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Steam, and GOG, the game seems readily available on almost any platform. Fans of the original Cuphead can look forward to this extension coming out in the spring. If you haven’t played it yet, it might be time to pick up the game before the DLC comes out.
