Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition coming to Nintendo Switch

“Two worlds cross in the triumphant return of this RPG classic.”

After the Nvidia GeForce Leak, we’ve been following news of the potential Chrono Cross Remaster. Back in November 2021, we discussed the possibility of one actually happening, with little hints from countless people related to the game. Now, Nintendo has finally given everyone solid confirmation. In the latest Nintendo Direct, Nintendo proudly showed off Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition, coming to Nintendo Switch.

Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition

“One fateful day, the protagonist Serge wanders into an alternate world. Though it somewhat resembles his home world, he finds that he no longer exists here. How did this happen? What is this mysterious another world? Travel back and forth between both worlds to unravel the story.”

The game’s cast has a wide range of characters. Over 40 allies can accompany the player, all with unique abilities. Depending on the allies the player obtains and the different choices they make throughout the game, the game’s ending differs.

Nintendo notes a few different improvements have been made to the remastered edition. Players now have the ability to turn off enemy encounters, a feature that works well for people who prefer to focus on the narrative aspects rather than the gameplay. Additionally, hear your old favorite Chrono Cross sounds with the newly enhanced soundtrack.

Most notable, though, is the Chrono Cross remaster now includes Radical Dreamers. Radical Dreamers originally came out exclusively in Japan as a Satellaview side story to wrap up unresolved plot lines in Chrono Trigger. Now, players can experience the Chrono Cross origins in a text-based adventure.

When does the Chrono Cross remaster release?

The wait won’t be long—Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition releases April 7, 2022 on Nintendo Switch. Preorders are already available on the Nintendo eShop. Whether the game will be Switch exclusive or make its way over to other platforms, it’s yet to be confirmed. If you’ve never had the opportunity to experience the Chrono Cross world, now’s your chance to finally pick up this critically acclaimed RPG.
