Buck Up And Drive! Outrun-inspired indie title available now

The perfect game for anyone who's ever wanted to drive on the moon

Indie developer Fábio Fontes released his game Buck Up And Drive! on August 21 for Windows and Linux.

Buck Up And Drive! is an arcade driving game inspired by Outrun and other similar titles. Fontes describes the game as an endless runner with cars. At launch, five cars are available to choose from. The cars can be customized with decals through a PNG texture. Fontes states that he plans to add more cars in future updates.

In addition to the arcade driving mode, Buck Up And Drive! features a fighting mode. The fighting mode features a simplistic control scheme. A d-pad and one button are used to face off against your opponent. Because all of the cars are reskins, there is no advantage over which is chosen to fight.

SAGE 2021 also included this game in a showcase. YouTuber Overdash posted a video highlighting demo gameplay from the expo. The video features footage from various stages including the moon. The official title of that map includes a certain word I can’t use in this article. The video also showcases moves that can be done such as air tricks, drifting and air dash hoops.

Buck Up And Drive! is available now on Itch.io. Fontes may also distribute the game on Steam in the future. The game costs $7.99.

Fontes develops his games in Game Maker Studio 2. He develops all of his projects entirely by himself. He is currently working on another title, Dunkehr. Dunkehr is an action platformer with a visual design reminiscent of the 16-bit era. The game also features a fighting mode that allows players to face off against AI or a friend in a 1V1 duel.
