Akaza and Rui join the fight in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles DLC

Two new demons join the fighter roster in the Demon Slayer game.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles welcomes two new characters, Akaza and Rui, to be playable fighters in the game. After the game’s initial release on October 14, players can now widen their roster with the new fighters.

Who exactly are the new characters?

Fans of Demon Slayer will recognize the new characters on the roster, Akaza and Rui, as demons from the show. Akaza, the Upper Rank demon, first appeared in the anime during the Mugen Train arc. Low Rank demon Rui made his appearance early on in the Natagumo Mountain arc. These two are the first playable demons, aside from Nezuko, in the Demon Slayer game.

Rui’s attacks highlight his spider-like traits in the gameplay trailer, weaving white and red webs between his fingers to envelop his enemy. Akaza’s attacks are more martial-style, including a flurry of punches and empowered strikes to match his Destructive Death Demon Art. Both characters invite more unique play styles to the game.

Are Akaza and Rui available to play yet?

Akaza and Rui joined Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles on November 3, 2021, meaning they’re currently available and ready to play. The two characters are free to pick up, as will be the next two post-launch DLCs for the game. Each DLC will feature two more playable characters. While we’re not sure who the next playable characters to be added will be, the current two new ones are sure to satisfy while fans wait for the next DLC. Azaka and Rui are currently available to play on PS5, PS4, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S
